Cook in charge

30 hours per week term-time only, plus 5 additional days to be worked in holiday periods. Permanent contract, commencing as soon as possible. Working hours to be negotiated according to need.

 

Salary: Scale 4, Point 7-11 (£10.41-£11.27 per hour)

 

The governors seek to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic and innovative cook to join our team as soon as possible.

The Cook will have experience in running a busy kitchen to the highest standards and have a proven track record of leading and developing other members of staff. We know that providing delicious and nourishing meals for children is essential to help to give them the best start in life. This might be the main meal of the day for some of our children, and you will ensure they have access to balanced, healthy food. In addition to providing the service on a day-to-day basis, you will be involved in providing theme days and other events.

As Cook, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing catering staff
  • Managing lunchtime service and working with the Governing Board to develop its capability and capacity to produce high quality food for special events
  • Creating the highest quality, inspirational and popular menu which will raise the profile of healthy school meals throughout school
  • Creating recipes and costing menus which meet the Schools Food Standards
  • Training and motivating staff
  • Ensuring the all the requirements of the school and its stakeholders are delivered in line with expectations.
